Patient Lift Delivery and Setup Throughout Illinois

A patient lift is one of the most important pieces of equipment a family caregiver can have at home. Moving a person who has limited mobility from a bed to a chair, from a chair to a wheelchair, or from the floor after a fall without a patient lift is not just exhausting. It is dangerous for both the patient and the caregiver. A patient lift makes every transfer smooth, controlled, and safe every single time.

At Reliable DME Pro we deliver patient lifts throughout Illinois. We set up the equipment at your home and provide hands on training to the caregiver before we leave so everyone feels confident and safe from day one.

Patient Lift Models We Carry

We carry several patient lift options designed for different levels of mobility and different transfer needs.

The Sara Stedy Sit to Stand Lift is designed for patients who still have some weight bearing ability but need help transitioning from sitting to standing. The patient holds onto a support frame while the lift assists them into a standing position. This is ideal for patients in early rehabilitation after surgery or a stroke who are working toward walking again.

The Hoyer Power Full Electric Patient Lift is our most commonly used model for patients who cannot bear any weight at all. The patient is placed in a sling and the lift raises and moves them completely supported between surfaces. It is easy for a single caregiver to operate.

The Invacare Sit to Stand Power Patient Lift offers powered assistance for standing transfers and is a good option for caregivers who need a powered solution for a patient with partial weight bearing ability.

Who Needs a Patient Lift

A patient lift is most commonly used for patients recovering from a major surgery who cannot bear weight during early recovery, people who have had a stroke and have significant weakness on one or both sides of their body, patients with ALS, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, or other progressive neurological conditions that affect mobility, elderly patients who are fully dependent on a caregiver for all transfers, and anyone whose caregiver is at risk of injury from performing manual transfers without mechanical assistance.

Does Medicare Cover a Patient Lift

Medicare Part B can cover patient lifts when they are considered medically necessary. Your doctor needs to document that the patient has a condition that requires mechanical lifting assistance for safe transfers at home.

We work with Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurance plans. When you call us we check your coverage right away and handle all the documentation and authorization on your behalf. We tell you exactly what is covered before we deliver anything. Private pay options are available as well.

Common Questions About Patient Lifts

Can one caregiver use a patient lift alone?

Yes. Our full electric and sit to stand patient lifts are specifically designed for single caregiver operation. We demonstrate the complete process during delivery and setup so the caregiver feels confident before we leave.

What is a patient lift sling and does it come with the lift?

A sling is the supportive fabric harness the patient sits in while being lifted. We include a compatible sling with every patient lift delivery. If you need additional slings or a different style for a specific transfer situation just let us know when you call.

What if I am not confident using the patient lift after delivery?

Call us any time. We are always happy to come back and walk you through the process again or troubleshoot over the phone. Your safety and the patient’s safety is the most important thing.

Does a patient lift work on carpet?

Yes. Our full electric Hoyer lift has large casters that roll on both hard floors and low to medium pile carpet. If you have very thick carpet call us and we will confirm the right model before delivery.
