Power Wheelchair Rental Illinois
When getting around on your own becomes difficult, a power wheelchair can give you back the freedom to move through your home, run errands, and stay connected to the people and things you care about. Whether you need one for a few weeks after surgery or for a longer period while managing a health condition, renting makes a lot of sense before committing to a purchase.
At Reliable DME Pro we offer power wheelchair rentals throughout Illinois. We bring the chair to your home, set it up, show you how to use the controls, and handle your insurance paperwork so you do not have to deal with any of that yourself.
What Is Included With Your Power Wheelchair Rental
When you rent a power wheelchair from us you are not just getting the chair. Our team delivers it directly to your home, charges it up before handing it over, and walks you through everything before we leave. We show you how to drive it, how to charge the battery, and how to fold it if your model supports that.
Our rental fleet includes lightweight folding models that are easy to load into a car, standard indoor models great for getting around the house, and outdoor models built to handle sidewalks and uneven surfaces. Some of our chairs like the Pride Jazzy Carbon are compact enough to take on trips while others like the Golden Compass Sport are built for all-day outdoor use.
If you are not sure which model fits your needs, just call us and describe your situation. We will recommend the right chair based on where you plan to use it, your height and weight, and how long you need it.
How Long Can You Rent a Power Wheelchair
Most people rent a power wheelchair for anywhere from two weeks to six months. The most common situations we see are patients recovering from leg surgery or a stroke who need mobility support during rehabilitation, seniors who are waiting on a Medicare approval for a permanent chair, and families who need a chair temporarily for a visiting relative.
We offer flexible month to month rentals with no long term contracts. If you only need the chair for two weeks that is completely fine. If your recovery takes longer than expected you can extend without any issue. When you are ready to return it just call us and we will come pick it up at no extra charge.
Some customers also decide they want to keep the chair after renting it. If that happens we can talk about purchase options and in some cases apply part of your rental payments toward the purchase price.
Does Medicare Cover a Power Wheelchair Rental
Medicare can cover power wheelchairs but the process has specific requirements. To qualify you need a face to face examination with your doctor who must document that you have a mobility limitation that significantly affects your ability to get around inside your home. Medicare does not approve power wheelchairs for outdoor use only so the medical need has to be related to moving around your living space.
If you meet the criteria Medicare Part B typically covers 80 percent of the approved rental cost after your deductible. You would be responsible for the remaining 20 percent unless you have a supplemental plan that covers it.
We work with Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurance plans. When you call us our team checks your benefits immediately and tells you exactly what is covered and what you would owe before we deliver anything. We also coordinate with your doctor to gather the required documentation so you do not have to chase that yourself.
If your insurance does not cover it or you prefer not to go through insurance we also offer straightforward private pay rates.
